Be seen online - How your business can attract more customers

2 minute read

For small businesses in Denmark, being visible online is no longer a luxury – it’s how customers

find you. Whether you run a restaurant, a hair salon or a tailor shop, people often check online before deciding where to go.

If your business doesn’t show up there, they might simply choose someone else.

Why digital visibility matters

  • Customers search online first. In Denmark, more than 90% of people use the internet daily or almost daily. Many check Google Maps, reviews or opening hours on their phone before leaving home. When your business is easy to find online, searches turn into visits.
  • Local searches bring customers. When someone searches “pizza near me” or “tailor open now,” it’s the businesses that are visible online that get chosen. If you’re not there, you may lose customers who are already looking for exactly what you offer.
  • Pictures attract people. A photo of your best dish, a new hairstyle or an inviting shop window can be what makes someone choose you.
  • Reviews build trust. More than half of Danish consumers rely on online reviews when choosing between options. A few positive words on Google or Facebook can make a big difference.
  • Social media keeps you top of mind. Over three-quarters of Danes are active on social media. Small posts about offers, updates or everyday moments remind customers to come back.
  • It’s affordable. Most digital tools are free or very low-cost. Unlike traditional advertising, you can start small, see what works, and adjust as you go.

Denmark’s digital reality

Denmark is one of the most digital countries in Europe. Almost everyone is online, and customers increasingly expect to find at least some information about the businesses they visit.

The good news is that you don’t need expensive campaigns or advanced skills to take part. Small steps – like setting up a Google Business profile, posting your hours on Facebook, or sharing a few photos – are enough to make a difference and attract new customers.

Free help from young volunteers

At Finklusiv, we know small business owners are busy running their shops and serving customers. That’s why it can be hard to also find time for digital tools.

That’s why we created Young Digital Bridge Builders. Here, we match local business owners with young volunteers who help set up the most important digital tools – completely free of charge.

Think of it as having your own small marketing consultant for a while:

  • You get hands-on help to become visible online.
  • The young volunteer gains valuable experience and a great reference for their CV.

It’s a win-win: your business grows, and the next generation builds real skills.
